My experience Project Managing a Windows Phone 7 A pp

Windows Phone 7

A project I got to work on recently while working at Universal Music Australia was a Windows Phone 7 application allowing users to download digital music, purchase physical products including CD/Vinyl/DVD/Blu-Ray/Merch/T-Shirts, and get the latest aritst information. This was a great opportunity for us (UMA) as it would allow Getmusic (our D2C eCommerce platform for Australia) to reach even more users and would bring us even deeper into the mCommerce world. The big win for us was that our application would be the only application selling digital music on this device, in all of Australia.

Zune is Microsoft’s counterpart to iTunes and while it’s a great music purchasing service, which also has a much cleaner GUI than iTunes, this service unfortunately, and fortunately for us, is not available in Australia. So we own the digital music purchasing market and Microsoft gets to offer a service for their users to buy music. Win-Win

TravelingWebGuy.com under my ownership

by on Jun.08, 2009, under Development - Web, Misc. Sites, My Life, Thoughts

i_was_born_leetSo I’ve had my blog up for almost two years, though I haven’t advertised it much, scratch that, never told anyone about it. But since I have started all my preparations for my travel plans I’ve been positing like a crack fiend lately. And in doing all this planing, posting, purchasing stuff, I’ve been creating social media sites, adding plugins to my blog to help with SEO purposes and I have seen the positive effect it’s had.

So, now, when you do a Google search for “travelingwebguy” I practically own the entire first page of results! How about dem apples and SEO optimization! And in doing these searches and getting the results I wanted, I decided to make it 100% proof by ordering the domain to go along with the alias. So now that I own the domain, and it already points to my blog, it just reinforces and adds extra quality and relevancy to my search results.

TravelingWebGuy – www.travelingwebguy.com – That’s me!

P.S.
Yes, I’m a computer nerd… but god damnit I’m a cool computer nerd!

Creating a new Website – craigslist-flakes.com

by on May.31, 2009, under Development - Web, Misc. Sites

i_was_born_leetSo I’ve decided to create a new website. Something simple and easy using the WordPress blog system as the CMS for posting, commenting, updating and maintaining. Also I’ll be using WP because I’m leaving in 5 weeks and I want to have this done before I’m gone.

I’m basically going to be make a simple website that allows users to post their stories of the craigslist flakes they’ve encountered. I’m looking into the legal aspect of posting users email addresses to see what, if any, laws it may break. I may need to write a PHP function which will make the email un-clickable and not able to be grabbed by SPAM bots picking up email addresses. Something along the lines of:Â tim[at]r3xxstudios.[xxx] This way, the posters aren’t held liable and readers can still get an idea of who and where the Flake is. (continue reading…)
